Mogghal Leather Shoes: The Art of the Perfect Finish

A truly exceptional leather shoe isn’t defined merely by the quality of its hide, but by the mastery of its finish. At Mogghal, we treat every pair of shoes like a canvas. Our finishing process is a meticulous blend of traditional craftsmanship and modern techniques, designed to bring out the deepest character of the leather.

Your Shoe Goes Under Different Process

  • Clicking

Master craftsmen select the highest quality leather. The hide is then carefully cut based on the design patterns. This step is known as 'Clicking' in the footwear industry because of the distinct clicking sound the blade makes as it cuts through the leather.

  • Closing

The various cut pieces of leather are carefully aligned and delicately stitched together. This stage also involves attaching the inner lining, thinning and folding the edges, and punching eyelets for the shoelaces.

  • Lasting & Bottoming

The completed upper is stretched tightly over a 'Last' (a wooden or plastic mold shaped like a human foot) so the leather molds to its form. Once the upper is perfectly fitted, the insole and outer sole are firmly attached to the bottom using adhesives, nails, or heavy stitching (such as a Goodyear welt or Blake stitch construction).

  • Finishing & Rooming

This is where the signature Mogghal finishing process is applied. The edges of the soles are smoothed and painted, stray threads are trimmed, and the leather is treated with conditioners, creams, and hard waxes before being buffed to a premium shine. Finally, the Quality Control (QC) team rigorously inspects the shoe before it is packed into its box.

FAQs

What type of leather is used in Mogghal shoes?

We use only premium, full-grain leather sourced from top-tier tanneries. This ensures maximum durability, a luxurious feel, and allows the leather to develop a beautiful, natural patina over time.

Can my Mogghal shoes be resoled once they wear down?

Absolutely. Our shoes are crafted using traditional stitching methods (such as Blake stitch or Goodyear welt construction). This means that when the sole eventually wears out after years of use, a skilled cobbler can easily replace it without damaging the upper leather, extending the life of your shoes significantly.

Are your shoes true to size?

Yes, Mogghal shoes generally run true to standard dress shoe sizing. Because high-quality leather naturally stretches and conforms to your foot over time, we recommend ensuring a snug—but not tight—fit when you first try them on.
